Swansea Police Department joins SafeTrade - a national safety initiative for completing online transactions safely when meeting in person.

Safe Trade

SafeTrade is a simple program for police and sheriff’s departments to encourage transactions at their facilities; for classified sites to strengthen their safety and security initiatives, and for users to insist on “SafeTrade” by conducting their transactions only at a local police department.

The Swansea Police Department is pleased to offer a safe place to conduct on-line sale transactions.  The police department, located at 1700 GAR Hwy is monitored by cameras 24 hours per day/7 days a week.

Here’s how it will work:

Agree to meet the buyer or seller only at the Swansea Police Department located at 1700 GAR Hwy Swansea.  You can meet in the front parking lot or in the lobby of the station.

Meet only during daylight hours if possible.

You can meet in the lobby of the police department, no appointment is necessary, just notify dispatch that you are there for a safe-trade transaction. No firearm exchanges or extra-large items like furniture are allowed in the lobby.

Please note: Police personnel may not become actively involved in any transaction unless criminal activity is involved and will not participate in the exchange of cash or the storing or transferring of items.
