Conservation Agent - updated salary range - $75,000 - $85,000 DOQ

The Town of Swansea seeks a dynamic, experienced Conservation Agent to conduct highly professional, technical and administrative work advising and assisting the Conservation Commission in administering and enforcing the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the local Wetlands by-laws, and to acquire, manage, and protect conservation lands within the Town.  Working under the direction of the Town Administrator and through policy dictated by the Commissioners, the Agent assists the Commission in research, organization and coordination of decisions. The Agent also coordinates with the Community Preservation Act Committee and proactively identifies projects for use in the CPA, and assists with stormwater management and flood protection/prevention measures.  The Conservation Agent assists applicants and provides information to various committees, town officials and the public as needed.

Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, land use management, or related field; at least three (3) years’ experience in associated field; experience in implementing, administering, and enforcing the Wetlands and River Protection highly preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.  Must have own vehicle to use for town business. Must be able to pass a CORI upon hire.

Senior Clerk

DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE: Duties include typing, filing, letter writing, preparing permits, licenses, forms, and collection of fees.  Other duties include business certificates,      gas storage files, posting agendas, entering census, assisting with meetings, voter registration, posting meetings, zoning applications, and appointments. Must be able to multi-task. Computer skills include knowledge of Windows-based programs/software:  Microsoft Word,  Excel, and Acces.  The position requires the use of the Central Voter Registry Information, System and the State Vitals System.  There is a large level of confidentiality that must be adhered to. Elections: preparation for, setup and assist with the execution of elections and town meetings (includes mandatory extended work hours).
The position will require the ability to maintain good public relations. Interaction with the general public, both in person and on the phone, assisting with most aspects of the Clerk’s Office and handling general complaints.  Other general office and clerical duties as assigned.                                                   
HOURS: Full Time – 35 hrs.                               WAGES: $25.84 hourly

Seasonal Employment Application

Summer Camp Director
The summer camp director oversees the operation of our summer camp, ensuring a safe, enriching, and enjoyable experience for campers.  This role involves staff leadership, program planning, operational management, and other responsibilities. 
Required Qualifications:
The director must be at least 21 years of age or older and meet at least one of the following:
Successful completion of a course in camping administration such as those offered by national professional camping associations, national agencies, or their equivalent, or
At least two seasons of previous experience working as part of the administrative staff of a recreational camp for children, both with the  successful completion of a CORI check

Summer Camp Counselor

Counselors are directly responsible for the daily activities, as well as the care, safety, and happiness of the children assigned to them for the summer camp program.
Required Qualifications:
Counselors must be at least 18 years of age or older and meet at least one of the following:
Have at least four weeks experience as a junior counselor, have participated in structured group camping or have at least four weeks experience in a supervisory role with children; and have satisfactorily completed a camp counselor orientation and training program as specified in 105 CMR 430.091 prior to the arrival of campers both with the successful completion of a CORI check. Summer Camp Junior Counselor
Counselors are directly responsible for the daily activities, as well as the care, safety, and happiness of the children assigned to them for the summer camp program. 

Job Duties:
Work with assisting camp counselors with the daily activities. Participating in training workshops held prior to camp sessions.
Working cooperatively with Camp Counsellors and other junior counselors to ensure campers are safe while maintaining adequate health and hygiene measures.  Qualified candidates can submit a seasonal employment application to hr@swanseama.gov .
